Update Pricing to Existing Quotes in Focus After a Price Change

Update Pricing to Existing Quotes in Focus After a Price Change

Summary

Vendor price updates take place from time to time. Updates in vendor pricing do not update existing quotes, sales or orders retroactively. This is by design, as we assume customers have seen the initial pricing. Updating pricing on an existing quote to reflect your cost to the vendor, is quick and easy.

More Information

On occasion you may return to an existing quote and notice (under Edit Price) the numbers on the price breakdown don't quite add up. See the example below. The numbers in the red box should normally add up to the MSRP above the box, which, in this example, is $3,380.00

This is common when a vendor price increase happens after a quote is made by the dealer.

Because we assume your customer may have already seen the original price, Solatech does not update pricing retroactively on existing quotesRetroactively altering pricing can risk putting sales reps in an uncomfortable situation with customers in which they may think the sales rep has shown them one price and are trying to sell at higher one, outside of expectations.

For that reason, Solatech leaves any changes in price, to the dealer sale team.

To Update Pricing

Whenever there is a vendor price change (see the red square above where the MSRP and Price Breakdown) the user can click on the Recalculate button to update pricing on each line item.

After clicking the button, the price will recompute and the Recalculate button will disappear. See below:

Pricing for this line items is now updated. If you suspect a price change affected multiple line items on a quote, it is recommended that the user do this for each line item.

IMPORTANT: Click on the SAVE button once all changes are complete. Your changes will not be saved if this step is skipped.

Note: Pricing will factor in your vendor discounts, margin, and other items. The item price will sometimes not match the MSRP as it does in this example graphic, which assumes 0% margin and a 0% vendor discount.

Regarding Tariffs:

April 2025 Update:
You may notice under Item Costs, there may be a link to Show Details. You will see this if your quote includes product affected by tariffs. To check the details, just click on Show Details.

You will see the initial cost of the product, and a short explanation of the tariff below that.
All tariffs that are applicable, and active per the manufacture, will be displayed here.
