How to add notes to the line item descriptions

Summary

Solatech allows users to add line item notes for quotes and sales. You may opt to show those notes on process reports, or use them internally only. This knowledge base article details how to use line item notes. 

Adding a note

  1. When adding a line item, scroll to the bottom of the page, beneath the Notifications section
  2. You will see a new section, Notes
  3. Expand the section and type any desired information in that field. There is no character limit. 
  4. Add the line 
  5. On the Quote Review page, you can easily view any notes in the line items section. Available notes will be shown in a chat bubble icon
  6. Clicking  this icon will bring the notes into view on this page. (see screenshot below)


How to show line item notes on process reports

Note: This requires Administrator privileges. 
  1. Click Admin from the upper navigational toolbar
  2. On the Account page, scroll to the section Process Reports and press the Manage button
  3. Place a check mark to the left of a type of report to which the notes should be added
  4. Press the pencil icon to edit
  5. In the General Properties section, click the pencil icon to edit
  6. In Template settings, change Hide the line item details to No
  7. Press the Save button
  8. Repeat for any other process reports types to which notes should be added
Note:  Line item notes will never appear on Purchase Orders. They will not cause any orders to go on hold.
