On trying to open a product using Product Designer, the system reports the file needs to be upgraded. Clicking OK to allow the upgrade, the system returns the following message:
Unable to open the file '...'. Check to make sure that the file is not in use and try again; (Code 30)"
This is caused when the Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the required database file (product file). There can be many different causes that relate to this message. Review the resolutions below, trying each one until the problem is resolved.
There is no known workaround at this time.
Resolution 1
Verify you have write access to the folder where the product file is located.
If you receive an error message at either step 4 or 5 then you probably don't have write access to this folder. That is typically caused by either a network share that is setup for read-only access or the user security on the server is configured for read-only access. Contact your systems administrator to change the access to read/write.
Resolution 2
Verify that the file is not marked as read-only.
Resolution 3
Install the latest version of the Jet 4.0 Engine. The file to download and the installation instructions are different for the various versions of Microsoft Windows. Refer to the following Microsoft document for information on downloading and installing the latest version of Microsoft Jet 4.0:
Resolution 4
Install the latest version of the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). The file to download andthe installation instructions are different for the various versions of Microsoft Windows. Refer to the following Microsoft document for information on downloading and installing the latest version of
