This article explains why the standard printer configurations supplied with SWCS cannot be modified.

Starting with version 4.2, the files installed by the software cannot be modified. This is due to security reasons and for maintenance. In order to change the page settings on a printer configuration, a new configuration must be created by coping an existing one. Then the changes can be made to the copy.

To copy a printer configuration

1. From the File menu click Printer Configurations.
2. Select the printer configuration that you want to copy.
3. From the toolbar click the Copy button.
4. Enter the name of the new printer configuration.
5. Click OK.
6. Select the new printer configuration.
7. From the toolbar click Page Setup.
8. Make any desired page setup changes.
9. Click OK.

Once a new printer configuration has been created, any reports that will need to use this new printer configuration must also be copied and modified to reference the new configuration.

To copy a general report and change it's printer configuration

1. From the Reports menu, click Reports Center.
2. Select the category and then the report you want to copy.
3. From the toolbar, click Modify Report.
4. You will be asked if you want to copy the report first. Click Yes.
5. Enter the name for the new report and click OK. The Modify Report screen will be displayed.
6. Check the box 'Use a custom printer configuration for this report'.
7. Select from the list of available printer configurations the one you want to use.
8. Click OK to save the changes.
