Selecting and Setting up a File Sharing Service for SalesPRO Roaming Workstation Sync
Summary
SalesPRO Roaming Workstations
perform their syncing by sending data files back and forth on a
real-time basis and they use existing file sharing services to perform
this function. You must create an account and install one of these file
sharing services on the main SalesPRO system and on each roaming
workstation. Solatech recommends Dropbox however any of the following
will work:
- Drop Box
- One Drive
- Google Drive
- Egnyte
Note: A free account will provide adequate storage for the SalesPRO Sync process.
Instructions
- Install the desired file sharing service on the main system and on all roaming workstation machines.
- Create and/or sign into the service on the main computer.
- Locate the file sharing folder on your computer (typically, C:\Users\User Name\File Sharing Service name).
- Within that folder, create a new folder called WCS5.
- You
may either have all computers use the same file sharing account, or you
may share this newly created folder with your sales reps if they will
be using their own account..
- At this point, you should see the
file sharing service running in your system tray (lower right hand
corner of windows - next to the clock).
- It will be shown as an icon (examples below).
- Backup and Sync (personal version of Google Drive)
- Dropbox
- Google Drive (professional version, now called Google Drive File Stream)
- OneDrive
- On each Roaming Workstation computer, log into the file sharing service.
- You should see the file sharing service running in the system tray.
- Open
up the file sharing service folder on each roaming workstation computer
(typically C:\Users\User Name\File Sharing Service Name)
- You should see the WCS5 Folder you created on the main system earlier.
- Create a blank text file in the file sharing service folder on the roaming workstation.
- You should see the blank text file in the file sharing service folder on the Main System.
You are now ready for syncing in SalesPRO!
NOTE:
For users with a dedicated server, multiple office users and roaming
workstation users, please contact Solatech Support for additional setup
instructions.
