How to Setup and use a Leica Disto X3 laser with your Solatech Focus system

This article describes how to pair a Disto X3 laser to your Windows or iOS device. It also describes how to transmit those measurements into your Solatech Focus system.
Instructions for Pairing
Windows
- Turn on your X3 laser (Bluetooth is auto enabled) .
- Select the Windows Start Icon
in the lower left hand corner of your screen, then select Settings
> Devices> Bluetooth
- Select the Laser from the list of available devices, then hit Pair
- You will receive notification when the device is paired to the computer.
iOS
- Turn on your X3 laser (Bluetooth is auto enabled)
- Navigate to your iOS Bluetooth manager to pair the device
- Note: the Disto X3 will be paired as a keyboard device
- You will receive notification when the device has been paired to your iPad
Setting up the laser to properly send measurements into Solatech Focus
- On the laser, tap the FUNC button to enter the Functions menu
- Tap the button on the left hand side, under the gear icon on the screen.
- Using the "+" or "-" buttons on the laser, select the Bluetooth and gear icon
- Hit "="
- Bluetooth Navigation should be set to "On"
- Hit the button under the "checkmark" icon (lower right) to confirm
- Decimal point should be set to "0.00"
- Hit the button under the "checkmark" icon (lower right) to confirm
- Unit should be set to "off"
- Hit the "checkmark" icon to confirm
- Termination should be set to "Enter"
- Hit the "checkmark" icon to confirm
- Autosend should be set to "off"
- Hit the "checkmark" icon to confirm
- Hit the "C/Off" button
- Hit the "On Dist" button
- You should see a Blue arrow in the lower right hand corner of the laser, indicating that measurements are ready to be sent to your device.
Sending measurements into Solatech Focus
- Begin by placing the cursor in the Width field when adding a line item
- Take a measurement and hit the button below the blue arrow on the laser screen (lower right hand corner)
- Note: if you have multiple measurements, hit the "C/Off" button on the laser until the measurement you wish to send is on the bottom display line.
- Your measurement will be entered and the cursor will advance to the Height field
- Hit the button below the Blue send arrow again
- Continue selecting options for the line item
- Once the line has been added, place the cursor in the width field and repeat steps 2-6 above
Using the on screen keyboard (iOS) while the laser is connected
When a Leica Disto X3 laser is connected via Bluetooth to an iPad, it acts as an input device. This renders the on screen keyboard inoperable.
Instructions
- Connect the Leica Disto X3 laser
- To display the on screen keyboard, press either the "+" or "-" buttons on the laser for 1 second
- The iPad keyboard will appear
- To close the keyboard, press the "+" or "-" button the laser again
