How to update the firmware on a Leica Disto X3 Laser

Summary

Leica periodically releases firmware updates for the Leica Disto X3 laser.  If you experience issues with connectivity or error messages, you should verify that you have the latest firmware, using the instructions below.

Note:  Updating firmware requires access to either an Android device or an iOS device (iPhone/iPad).

Instructions

  • Download the Disto Plan app (from Google Play or iTunes)   
  • Disto Plan App information
  • Turn on your X3 laser and insure that Bluetooth is turned on. 
  • Turn on Bluetooth on your Android or iOS device
  • Open the Disto Plan app and click on the Menu in the upper left hand corner
  • Select My Devices
  • When the Disto X3 appears, click Add
  • When the laser connects to your device, you will receive a notification if a firmware update is available
  • Click Update 
  • You will be notified on the app when the update has completed
