How to install SQL 2008 Manually for SalesPRO

Summary

This knowledge base article will outline the process of installing SQL Server 2008 on a computer which will be running Solatech SalesPRO. Note that this installation is separate from the installation of SalesPRO software. SQL Must be installed first. 

Also note that all Windows Updates must be installed on this computer prior to installation.

Instructions

  1. Download Microsoft SQL Server  2008-R2 SP2 Express Edition here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30438
  2. Assuming that your computer is 64-bit, select the file called SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe
  3.  Click Next
  4. Save the file and when completed, click Run 
  5. Select New install
  6. You will also need to accept terms and conditions on the next window
  7. Continue to click Next until you get to the Instance Configuration screen 
  8. Select Named Instance and enter SWCS5
  9. Click Next
  10. Choose Mixed Mode and enter the password swcs#2016 in both boxes
  11. Click Next when prompted until installation is completed
