How to Import a Price Chart from Excel

Summary 

This article will explain how to take a price chart from an excel spreadsheet and import it into the Product Designer 5 software

A - Locate the chart on your Excel spreadsheet.

    1 - Remove all $ signs, inch marks (“), and commas.

    2 - If necessary, format the cells to Number values with 0 decimal places. – This is not required

    3 - Refer to the product guide for minimum and maximum blind sizes.  If the Excel grid does not have all of the sizes and values included for the required sizes, edit the grid to include the missing values.  For example, the maximum width may be 120 but the grid stops at 96 wide with values for each additional 10”.  Complete the grid so that it matches the manufacturer’s specifications.

    4 - Copy all values including the Width (top row) and Height (left column) fields.

B - Steps to update the Chart in the software (Product Designer 5)

    1 - From Home tab click on Charts.


    2 – This will open the Charts window (list of all of your charts).

    3 – Open the chart you need to change by highlighting it and clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

    4 – If the chart doesn’t exist yet, type the name of the new chart at the top of the page and hit enter.  Then highlight that chart and click the link at the bottom to open it.   


    5 – When the chart opens you will have two new tabs – Layout and Data.

    6 – From the Data tab, click on Select, and choose Select All Cells.


    7 – This will highlight your entire chart in the software.  Click Clear to clear the data out of the chart.


    8 – Your excel file that needs to be imported should already be copied from the first step in these instructions.

    9 – Go to the home tab and click Paste.  If the chart dimensions that are being imported are different from the chart that is currently in the software, you will get the message shown below.  Just click Yes.


    10 – your chart has been imported.
