This article explains how the Solatech Window Covering Software calculates total square feet and total linear feet to be displayed in Order Entry.
In Order Entry the total square feet and total linear feet for the order are displayed in the status bar. This information is updated automatically as the lines in the order are added and removed.
Due to the nature of how this information is calculated, these numbers are estimates only. Depending on how the product is setup, a line in the order could not be included in the totals.
Each time a line is added or removed from an order the totals are updated. To determine the square feet and linear feet for each line the system looks for specific options in each line and uses them to determine the width and height of the line. The options that are used are:
The first width and height options that are found are the ones used. If a product has both Finished Width and Width the Finished Width will be used.
Once the width and height have been determined the values are used to calculate the total square feet and total linear feet. Note: The values are assumed to be in inches.
It is possible to only include certain products in these calculations. To do this add invisible options called "IncludeInSquareFootTotal" and "IncludeInLinearFootTotal" to the styles in the product . Set the default value of the option to 1. Then in Preferences, click Quotes & Orders, then click Advanced. Check the box "Only include special products in totals". When this is checked only the products with the above invisible options will be used when calculating the total square feet or total linear feet.
