Clicking "No, I don't want to see what's new" for the What's New messages does not work
Symptoms
When the popup asking if you want to see what's new with a specific module in your Solatech Window Covering Software is shown, you click "No, I don't want to see what's new". However, this does not prevent the message from displaying. It continues to ask each time you open the various modules.
Cause
This can be caused by a Windows file security issue in which the current Windows user does not have permission to the file that tracks your responses, causing SWCS to not be able to record your 'No' response.
Resolution
To resolve this, the whats new tracking file needs to be deleted. This will allow SWCS to re-create it with the correct file permissions.
- Click Start, Computer.
- In the address bar, navigate to the folder C:\ProgramData\Solatech\WCS4.
- Delete the file named whatsnew.ini.
Status
Solatech has confirmed this to be a problem with the software listed at the end of this article. As more information becomes available this article will be updated.
Applies To:
- Solatech Window Covering Software 4.2
