Administrator privileges required to create or upgrade a company

Summary

This article explains why Administrative privileges are required in order to create or upgrade a company with the Solatech Window Covering Software when running on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

More Information

Due to restrictions with Windows Vista and Windows 7 User Access Control (UAC), creating or upgrading a company database in the Solatech Window Covering Software requires that you run the program with Administrative privileges.

You may receive one of the following messages:

When Upgrading a Company

  • Unable to find a restore point. The company upgrade will not proceed.

When Creating a New Company

  • The new company could not be created (2739)

Since this is only required to create a new or upgrade an existing company, the best method to do this is to run the software by right-clicking on the Solatech Window Covering Software 4.2 icon and selecting Run as Administrator.

Note: Run as Administrator may also be required to run the utilities to Attach and Detach.
